Little did Ronald Malone know when he became a sales agent with the Glenwood Agency in 1960, that
he would begin a family legacy. Five short years later, Helen Malone (Ronald’s wife) decided to venture
into the real estate herself at the Star Agency and she unknowingly, along with her husband set the path for
the family’s future. In 1970, Ronald and Helen created their own company, Malone Real Estate,
specializing in residential properties, which forever solidified the Malone name with a tradition of
excellence in real estate sales in Maine.
Ronald and Helen’s two sons, Joe and Mark, were exposed to the family business at very young ages. As
boys they would help their parents take care of rental properties. They learned the business from the
ground up, from painting walls to mowing lawns. Joe and Mark didn’t know it at the time that the real
estate business was already getting into their blood.
In 1983 Joe decided that his calling was really to join his Dad and Mom.
Despite a background and degree in criminal justice, he took up a position in the family real estate agency.
Joe’s analytical proficiencies led him to predict
that commercial real estate in Maine was about to take off and he followed his passion for development and investing.
A year later, Joe, now President made it official and renamed the company
to better telegraph its direction…Malone Commercial Brokers.
During this time, Mark was working as a national bank examiner utilizing his financial degree, but it
was only a matter of time before he joined the family business.
He made it official in 1989 and enhanced the company’s ability for financial analysis of properties for sellers/landlords and buyers/tenants/clients.
Mark excelled at sales and negotiations for his clients.
